If your path crosses with our director of internal affairs, you’ll be met with positivity and a smile. Her can-do attitude and compassion breathe life into any team — propelling everyone to move forward with high morale. We’d like to introduce you to Shannon Sneade.
How would you describe yourself?
My philosophy is that an adventure is just around every turn. I’m enthused with dipping my toes into new experiences whenever I’m not occupied by my professional goals. I believe that positivity can get people further than any other mentality, and that the world needs a little more compassion — so why not start with ourselves? I’m a lover of quotes, surfing during sunsets and home-cooked vegan meals.
How do you serve our Chapter?
I am constantly on the lookout for ways members can enhance their participation in PRSSA and be rewarded for their effort. I will be connecting with members to let them know about the scholarships and internships available to them throughout the year. I also create tangible documentation for the Chapter such as minutes for those who can’t make meetings and the PRSSA SDSU board to spread miscellaneous information to students. Keep an eye out for volunteer opportunities and more within our organization too — these are great ways to connect with our parent Chapter and other Chapters nationwide!
What should members reach out to you for?
Let me know if you have questions about how to get the most out of your membership. I’m always up for a chat and I’d love to direct you to the resources you need. I can answer questions regarding other organizations on campus and how to get into contact with them too. The more I get to know you, the more I’ll be able to help you! College is tough and dedicated students deserve to be supported by their fellow students.
How does PRSSA inspire you?
PRSSA bridges the gap between the academic and professional world of PR while allowing me to explore different avenues of careers. I can go to meetings with a full school load knowing all of the members are in the same boat, hence why we cheer each other on. It fosters an encouraging spirit, never a competitive one, and reassures me of all the reasons PR is my career choice.
What are your career aspirations?
I am somewhere in between working in non-profits to support community conservation and lobbying
for environmental policy to be changed on the political scale. Both are equally appealing to me, and both have
their clear pros and cons. I’m committed to helping underserved people gain better living conditions, so I’ll use
my determination to navigate whichever avenue I can do so most effectively.
If you have questions about internships and scholarships, feel free to email Shannon at sesneade@cox.net. We can’t wait to see our members flourish professionally and academically!
