The wizard behind the curtain, (or more realistically) the typist behind the screen, this executive board leader prefers to shine the spotlight on others. Let’s keep it short and simple. We’d like you to meet our Director of Digital Media Madeline Balicoco.

How would you describe yourself?

I’m a classic introvert who loves reading (I’m always looking for book suggestions), watching Gilmore Girls and drinking chamomile, jasmine or oolong tea. Sarcasm, humorous repartee and dark chocolate-covered pretzel thins are all things I find enjoyable. I’m a firm believer that mistakes are an inevitable and essential part of the learning process, so don’t let them discourage you from progressing.

How do you serve our Chapter?

I serve the Chapter by ensuring our social media and website are valuable online resources for our members. Sharing useful content along with engaging with our members is what I’d like to focus on this year. Our Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and LinkedIn will share important information such as industry news, professional tips, important events and internship opportunities.

What should members reach out to you for?

Definitely shoot me an email or direct message if you have questions about our meetings, upcoming events or any other information I post. If I don’t have the answers, I’ll connect you with one of our executive board leaders, faculty or students on campus who can.

How does PRSSA inspire you?

PRSSA inspires me to become a better student and professional every day. Each meeting I take away valuable information that I can bring to my work places. PRSSA gave me the knowledge and confidence to apply for internships and other part-time communications positions. Without PRSSA, I wouldn’t have the two job positions I have right now!

What are your career aspirations?

I aspire to be a social media strategist for an organization that inspires me. I’m interested in organizations related to art, communities and positive messaging. I want to use social media to cultivate relationships. I love that digital communications has a vast world of analytics waiting to be explored. It’s exciting that I can measure whether my communication efforts are effective and resonate with the people I communicate with.

If you have any questions about our Chapter’s social media or website, feel free to email Madeline at
mbalicoco3@gmail.com. We’re looking forward to an awesome year!
