About

What is PRSSA?

The Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) is a nationally recognized pre-professional organization founded by the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) in 1968. PRSSA cultivates a favorable and mutually advantageous relationship between students and media professionals. Today, the organization has reached more than 9,600 members in 300 Chapters on college campuses across the country.

The Frederick C. Whitney Chapter of PRSSA was established at San Diego State University in 1971. It seeks to cultivate future communications professionals by offering tools, support and opportunities necessary for each member to find success in his or her desired career path.

The PRSSA Chapter at SDSU aims to foster the following:
  • Understanding of current theories and procedures of the profession
  • Appreciation of the highest ethical ideals and principles
  • Awareness of an appropriate professional attitude
